About the event
This one is for the birth workers. Please join us at Homegrown Families for a special evening of community acupuncture focused on you, as caregivers. It's no secret that being a doula is hard on the body, especially when baby decides to come at 3am. Acupuncture can help with emotional and physical resilience to keep you on your feet.
Acupuncture, a complete system of medicine based in element, channel, yin/yang, and organ balance, is a wonderful tool to support you while you support others. When one has a demanding role, and is responsible for so much, the body becomes vulnerable over time as challenges add up. Not to mention, you also have your own relationships and families to support. By getting acupuncture regularly, your physical and emotional system is able to handle these demands with increased resilience.
Physical and Emotional Challenges Unique to Doulas that can be Softened with Acupuncture Support:
- Fatigue created by an irregular, demanding schedule
- Musculoskeletal Pain
- Grief and Trauma
- Processing Emotions you have had to put on hold while giving care a high level of care and holding space for the intense highs, lows, fears, and joys of supporting parents and babies
- Burnout Recovery and Prevention
At this special clinic day held in the lovely space at Homegrown Families, we will utilize yoga props to create comfort, and enjoy the support and comaraderie of the group setting, and offer hot tea, so that you may sink deeply into relaxation for your treatment.
Homegrown Families provides childbirth education and doula services with the aim to deconstruct the systems of white supremacy and racism within health care, creating opportunities for equitable access to collective community care across under-resourced and historically marginalized communities. We support our clients no matter how parents choose to give birth or parent their children. We give the highest quality information and allow parents the spaciousness to make the decisions that are right for their family. We normalize what parents are going through and provide hands-on, empathetic, compassionate care.
Please RSVP and I will connect with you regarding a time slot for clinic day. Should you wish to walk-in unnanounced, you're free to do so.
